Full Description AfterQuery is seeking Personal Law Experts to join an urgent project to create and refine legal reasoning challenges for our AI training modules across the full breadth of personal law. In this remote, flexible role, you will design and evaluate legal scenarios — spanning housing, family law, immigration, consumer debt, estate planning, personal injury, tax, contracts, real estate, and more — that test the AI's ability to interpret and apply personal legal principles with precision and nuance. This is a high-volume, fast-moving engagement: we need experts who can start immediately and sustain 20-40 hours per week over the next several weeks. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between rigorous legal practice and innovative AI solutions, making a tangible impact on the future of legal technology.

Commitment: 20 hours/week | Pay: $80 - $100/hr | Type: Contract

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality legal questions and case studies across personal law domains — housing, family law, immigration, consumer debt, estate planning, personal injury, tax, and more — that challenge AI models to reason through real-world personal legal matters.
• Evaluate and validate model responses, offering detailed feedback to ensure logical consistency and adherence to legal principles.
• Collaborate with a team of legal and technical experts to fine-tune question difficulty and ensure content is both challenging and educational.
• Sustain high hourly output (20-40 hrs/week) across a compressed, multi-week timeline.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD), LLM, active bar admission/license, or equivalent advanced legal credential.
• Minimum 2+ years of legal experience (3-5 years preferred), in personal law or a closely related legal discipline.
• Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Available to start immediately and commit 20-40 hours per week for the next several weeks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience in one or more personal-law areas: landlord-tenant/housing, employment/workplace rights, consumer debt/credit/bankruptcy, family law/divorce/custody, immigration, criminal/traffic, small claims, consumer protection, public benefits/disability/insurance, estate planning/probate/elder law, personal injury, tax, contracts, real estate/property disputes, or IP/creator rights.
• Prior involvement in legal publications, policy work, or legal tech initiatives.
• Familiarity with AI or technology-driven legal applications is a plus.
