Generalist Accounting Expert

This is a remote, part-time accounting role. You'll use Excel and PowerPoint to replicate the kinds of schedules, statements, and summary memos typical in corporate accounting, audit, and reporting. Projects are asynchronous and flexible, with ~10 hours/week expected when active.

Commitment: 10 hours/week | Pay: $80 - $150 / hour | Type: Contract

Responsibilities

• Build GAAP-accurate Excel schedules: revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock comp (ASC 718), deferred tax rollforwards, consolidation eliminations, etc.
• Create PowerPoint summaries of financial statement impacts, technical accounting memos, control observations, and policy implications
• Simulate monthly/quarterly close packets, audit workpapers, tie-outs, flux analyses, and draft disclosures
• Validate logic, reconcile flows, and ensure internal consistency at “audit-defensible” fidelity

Required Qualifications

• Active CPA license (any state)
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP and standard close/audit/reporting workflows
• Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements, footnotes, and supporting workpapers
• Advanced Excel skills modeling accounting mechanics (subledgers → journals → TB → FS)
• Interest in improving AI’s ability to reason about accounting and financial reporting
• Quickbooks Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–10 years in public accounting (Big 4 or top regional) or corporate reporting
• Experience with technical accounting, complex transactions, or SOX
• T50 undergraduate or T20 master’s in accounting or related field (optional)
