Financial Reporting Accountant Expert

AfterQuery is seeking Financial Reporting Accountant Experts to create and refine financial reporting challenges for training AI models. In this remote, flexible role, you will design and evaluate financial reporting scenarios that test the AI's ability to interpret and apply complex accounting principles, ensuring that our models can navigate real-world financial statement preparation, regulatory disclosures, and GAAP compliance with precision and practical insight. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between proven financial reporting practice and innovative AI solutions, making a tangible impact on the future of accounting technology.

Commitment: 10 hours/week | Pay: $75 - $150/hr | Type: Contract

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality financial reporting questions and case studies that challenge AI models on topics such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, consolidations, fair value measurements, technical memos, footnote disclosures, SEC reporting requirements, and more.
• Evaluate and validate model responses, offering detailed feedback to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards and financial reporting best practices.
• Collaborate with a team of accounting and technical experts to fine-tune question difficulty and ensure content is both challenging and educational.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, SEC reporting, or technical accounting with a robust understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial statement preparation.
• Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Multiple years of financial reporting experience, ideally in public companies or Big 4 accounting firms.
• Prior involvement in technical accounting, SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), or accounting technology initiatives.
• CPA license, master's degree in accounting, or specialized certifications is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI or technology-driven accounting applications is a plus.
