Civil Engineering Expert

AfterQuery is seeking Civil Engineering Experts to create and refine engineering challenges for our AI training modules. In this remote, flexible role, you will design and evaluate civil engineering scenarios that test the AI's ability to interpret and apply complex infrastructure and structural design principles, ensuring that our models can navigate real-world planning, analysis, and construction challenges with precision and technical accuracy. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between rigorous civil engineering practice and innovative AI solutions, making a tangible impact on the future of engineering technology.

Commitment: 20 hours/week | Pay: $75 - $115/hr | Type: Contract

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality civil engineering questions and case studies that challenge AI models on topics such as structural analysis, foundation design, transportation planning, hydraulics, soil mechanics, construction management, building codes, environmental engineering, and more.
• Evaluate and validate model responses, offering detailed feedback to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to civil engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with a team of engineering and technical experts to fine-tune question difficulty and ensure content is both challenging and educational.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited program.
• Proven experience in civil engineering practice, design, or project management with a robust understanding of civil engineering principles and methodologies.
• Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Multiple years of civil engineering experience, ideally across diverse projects and specialties (structural, transportation, geotechnical, water resources, environmental, etc.).
• Prior involvement in engineering publications, standards development, or engineering technology initiatives.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, advanced degree (MS, PhD), or relevant certifications is a plus.
